NP300 2.3L | STAGE 2 | TOW

The Nissan NP300 D23 2.3L Stage 2 Tow Upgrade is engineered to significantly enhance your vehicle’s performance, cooling efficiency, and long‑term reliability, particularly when towing heavy loads. The process begins with the installation of a high‑performance intercooler designed to better regulate intake air temperatures during demanding towing conditions. By keeping temperatures stable, the intercooler helps maintain consistent power delivery and prevents heat‑related performance loss, ensuring the engine performs reliably even in extreme environments.

From there, we fit a CRG Fabrication hot side pipe and throttle body pipe combination. The upgraded hot side pipe eliminates the well‑known issue of oil escaping from the factory pipe and dripping onto the exhaust, removing the risk of smoke or potential fire. The throttle body pipe, constructed from high‑quality aluminium, ensures the air temperature sensor remains securely mounted and functions correctly. To further improve airflow, an alloy concentric reducing cone is incorporated at the throttle body end, removing the factory bottleneck and contributing to smoother, more efficient engine response.

To strengthen the NP300’s towing capability even further, we install a HPD (High Performance Diesel) Transmission Cooler. This addition is critical for vehicles that tow regularly or operate in hot Australian conditions. The HPD cooler significantly reduces transmission temperatures under load, preventing heat‑soak and fluid breakdown while improving shift consistency and extending transmission life. By stabilising transmission temperatures during long climbs, slow‑speed manoeuvring, or heavy towing, the cooler provides a major reliability advantage and ensures the drivetrain can comfortably handle the increased torque produced during tuning.

The mechanical upgrades continue with the installation of a 3" Manta stainless steel DPF‑back exhaust system. This system improves exhaust flow and reduces back‑pressure, allowing the engine to breathe more efficiently and deliver a cleaner, stronger, and more responsive power curve. The improved exhaust flow complements the intercooler and pipework upgrades, contributing to a more balanced and capable towing package.

Once the hardware is complete, your vehicle undergoes a custom ECU tune on our chassis dynamometer using the latest tuning software. The tune is tailored specifically for towing, delivering increased power and torque, improved throttle response, and smoother drivability. Fuel efficiency under load is also optimised, ensuring the vehicle performs confidently and consistently with a trailer behind it. The tuning process is meticulous, ensuring the engine and transmission work harmoniously with the new hardware.

The upgrade concludes with a comprehensive road test, allowing us to validate performance, drivability, and cooling efficiency in real‑world conditions. Any final adjustments are made to ensure the vehicle performs flawlessly. You will also receive a detailed dyno graph comparing pre‑ and post‑upgrade power and torque figures, clearly illustrating the improvements achieved.

Notes

  • Power figures listed are estimated kilowatts at the flywheel based on results typically obtained by HPF on HPF’s dynos and are based on a automatic vehicle with standard driveline and standard wheels and tyres. Actual power can vary based on each specific vehicle.
  • We advise against increasing the power output substantially on high kilometer engines, if your engine has in excessive of 150,000kms please contact us to discuss options.
  • Whilst every attempt is made to ensure prices listed online are correct, they are subject to change at any time.
  • Additional parts may be required in some cases depending on the condition of the vehicle. Cost of these parts and additional labor required may incur additional cost.
